De Zeilsloep 'Emma', is een ontwerp van de bootontwerper/-bouwer Gary Webb

(" Sailing (full size) & building & designing & building & sailing model boats.") 

Hij is met pensioen en woont in Mexico, B.C., Ensenada, op zijn eigen zeilboot. Zijn ontwerpen van modelzeilboten zijn een groot succes! De RC Schoener 'Irene' is zijn eerste succesvolle ontwerp en is al vele keren gebouwd, verspreid over de hele wereld. De opvolger van de 'Irene' is deze mooie zeilsloep 'Emma', die ik ga bouwen en vervolgens ga omdopen tot 'Kota' (om zeer specifieke redenen).

 

Dit zegt Gary over zijn ontwerpen:

 

"Fantasieboten: 

Mijn bootontwerpen zijn "Fantasy Boats".

Ik wil dat ze er uitzien als ECHTE boten, GOEDE boten, EENVOUDIGE boten, de manier waarop boten er jaren geleden uitzagen, 'Vintage' zou je kunnen zeggen.

Ze zien er uit als boten die misschien ooit gebouwd zouden kunnen zijn.

Ik wil modellen ontwerpen die daarbij ook op een realistische manier varen.

Deze ontwerpen wijken af van de echte "schaal" omdat ze vervormingen en compromissen bevatten die nodig zijn om het model goed te laten varen.

 

En daarom zijn mijn bootontwerpen zijn zoals ze zijn . . .

The sailboat 'Emma' was designed by the famous boat designer/builder Gary Webb: "Sailing (full size) & building & designing & building & sailing model boats."

He is retired and lives in Mexico, B.C., Ensenada, on his own sailboat. His designs of model sailboats are a great success! The RC Schooner 'Irene' is his first successful design and has been built many times all over the world. The successor of the 'Irene' is this beautiful sailing yacht 'Emma', which I will build and then rename to 'Kota' (for very specific reasons).

 

This is what Gary says about his designs:

 

"Fantasy Boats:

My boat designs are “Fantasy Boats”.
I want them to LOOK like REAL boats, GOOD boats, SIMPLE boats, the way boats looked years ago, “Vintage” some might say.
They portray boats that might have been, or might one day come to be.
I also want models that sail in a realistic manner.
No “submarining” on a downwind run, or decks awash and booms dragging in the water while on a beam reach in fair weather.
No failures to come about, or unwanted rounding up, out of control, in a moderate breeze.
These designs stray from being truly “scale” because they include distortions and compromises which are necessary for the model to sail well. 
The physical laws of mechanical similitude, the “square-cube thing”, come into play.

 

And that folks, is why my boat designs are the way they are….
